Known as the “The Fastest Human” in the World, Paddock was the third official 100m World Record Holder in history – a record that stood for 9 years along his journey towards an Olympic Gold in both the individual event and in the 4x100m relay!
Paddock added two Olympic Silvers to his collection via the 200m in both 1920 & 1924, and away from athletics, he fought in both World Wars… Sadly losing his life in a plan crash during World War II.
His legacy lives on… Portrayed in the Oscar-winning film, ‘Chariots of Fire’, inducted into the US National Track & Field Hall of Fame in 1976, and now recognized as the 6th Greatest of All Time via our HBM 100m Rankings!
