Given KIPROP’s doping ban for EPO in 2019, his high ranking will understandably rankle amongst many. For the record, we are very strongly anti-doping, however, our HBM Rankings are about absolute performance and achievement throughout History via official and ratified records to achieve a fair ranking for athletes across the generations – to that end, we specifically use IOC & World Athletics-approved marks that already strip the record books accordingly to inform our assessments.
Against this backdrop, KIPROP’s achievements in the 1500m are to a level very few can match – his medal haul and elite longevity are bettered by only two athletes and he remains the third fastest man in History.
