Very few athletes in history can lay claim to a World Record; fewer still multiple World Records; and then there’s the rarest of all – transcendent marks that take an event to a different level. Radcliffe has this distinction – her 2:15:25 back in April 2003 was the stuff of legend, crushing the previous mark by just short of two minutes and lasting unbeaten for 16 years!!! To date, no winner of any Women’s Olympic Marathon in history has run to within seven minutes of her 2:15:25!!! 💪
Whilst Radcliffe’s status is cemented by her lightning quick running and record-breaking times, her competitive record should not be underestimated – a former Marathon World Champion, 7x Major Marathon winner and 3x World no.1! 👏
