DAVIS was an immense athlete – such was his all around talent, when representing Ohio State University, he won the 1958 NCAA flat 400m in 45.4 secs, just 0.2 secs outside of the then World Record!!!
That wasn’t even his main event!!! His legendary status in the 400m Hurdles is underlined by becoming the first ever athlete to win TWO Olympic GOLDs in the event [Melbourne 1956 & Rome 1960]…accompanied by his TWO World Records, on route to becoming the first man to go sub-50 seconds!!!
