“Flo-Jo” kicks off our WOMEN’S TOP 5 100m Sprinters of all time…⬇️
In many ways Griffith Joyner is a cult figure who sadly passed far too young, though she will be forever remembered for her grace, power and flamboyant style that has kept her achievements from the 1980s etched in the minds of many even to this very day! 🙌
Incredibly her 100m World Record of 10.49 secs remains intact, having shattered Ashford’s prior mark by a staggering 0.27 secs in 1988, and is the third oldest Women’s track World Record; now in its 35th year and sits alongside her still-standing 200m WR (21.34 secs) achieved later in that same year!!! 1988 was the pinnacle – those World Records were matched by Olympic Gold in both individual sprints and the 4x100m Relay…and so, an icon was born…we salute Flo-Jo as the fastest woman ever and 5th Greatest Of All Time! ✊
