The first man to go sub-47 seconds…KEVIN YOUNG comes in 4th ALL-TIME!!!🔥🇺🇸👇
YOUNG etched his name in the History books forever with his sensational 400m Hurdles WORLD RECORD in 1992 to win Olympic GOLD…46.78 secs was not only the first time an athlete had bettered 47 seconds, it was so good that lasted unbeaten for 29 years!!!✨
That performance earned YOUNG the IAAF ‘World Athlete of the Year’ Award, and the race remains as breathtaking to watch today as it was then – coincidentally, we wrote to @athletics.weekly many years later with a piece that they published highlighting what a fantastic World Record it was!!! 🙌
Thereafter, YOUNG added World Championship GOLD in 1993 to complete the 400m Hurdles global medal haul, alongside his multiple NCAA Golds whilst at UCLA in the 1980’s [1987 & 1988 Gold in the 400m Hurdles, plus 4x400m Gold]…🥇🥇🥇🥇
