kinue hitomi #7

Triumph & Tragedy…Legendary HITOMI comes in 7th, passing aged just 24 with the Long Jump WORLD RECORD still to her name…✨🇯🇵👇

KINUE HITOMI was a rare talent and the FIRST Japanese woman to EVER win an Olympic medal – oddly, it was Silver in the 800m at the 1928 Olympics, as her favoured Sprint & Jumping Events weren’t on the programme [she was the unofficial World Record Holder in the 200m & the Triple Jump]!!!🌟

HITOMI’s pedigree is best demonstrated by the fact her SECOND Long Jump WORLD RECORD destroyed the old mark by 40cm and lasted for 11 years!!!🔥

Sadly, and ironically, a gruelling series of athletic competitions during a European Tour in 1930 took its toll on HITMOI, who then became very ill as engagements continued back home in Japan…it developed into pneumonia and she passed soon after, aged only 24…🕊️
