HEMERY shifted the mindset of what was thought possible in 400m Hurdling…in 1968 he ripped apart the WORLD RECORD by the best part of a second when running a staggering 48.12 secs on route to winning Olympic GOLD [the time still ranks third on the British ALL-TIME List 56 years on]!!!💥🥇
4 years later, HEMERY added Olympic BRONZE to his 400m Hurdles accolades as well as also excelling along the way in the shorter 110m Hurdles [PB of 13.4 secs in 1970 to rank 3rd in the World]!!!✊
A graduate of Boston University [USA], HEMERY went on to win BBC Sports Personality of the Year [1968], was twice British Superstars Winner [TV Show], became a Track Coach, is an MBE & CBE recipient, and was even President of UK Athletics in the late 1990’s!!!✨
