Nicknamed the “Fulton Flash” on account of her birthplace in Fulton, Missouri (US), Stephens is rumoured to have never lost a race!!! She conquered the World Record (plus an incredible windy 11.4 secs time to her name), won the sport’s biggest prize, and then retired from athletics shortly thereafter still in her teens! Her impact on the event lives on some 80+ years later…🙌
